Yan Carneiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Michel Preudhomme showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anísio Tepedino, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. With a little luck, Mariluz FC's Yan Carneiro got control of the ball when Rony Meira tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the match had gone on for 44 minutes, Rony Meira took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Yan Carneiro to make any attempt to save it. In the 48th minute Ricardinho Rodrigues suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. Gernando Cruz got his second yellow card in the match during the 48th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The referee gave Mariluz FC a penalty, 51 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ruy Rezende, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Araçoiaba FC's Michel Preudhomme. 2-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Anísio Tepedino to make the kick off. Guga Loyola sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Agnaldo Teixeira came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Araçoiaba FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Agnaldo Teixeira couldn't finish the play.
