In the 18th minute of the game, Afonsinho Cerezo landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. After 18 minutes, Carlinhos Sabóia mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rodeiro and the Caropanatuba players grew even worse after the yellow card. Henrique Trancoso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabian Barthez having to interfere. 24 minutes into the match, Rodeiro's goal looked a bit too open when Henrique Trancoso came free, but Fabian Barthez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 30 minutes Ciro Maciel got an excellent opportunity and fired away a shot on goal, but Lenílson Barbosa was perfectly placed and executed a great save. 32 minutes into the match, Henrique Trancoso had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Fabian Barthez. Rodeiro's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Henrique Trancoso was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Henrique Trancoso took the ball and in the 34 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fabian Barthez. Henrique Trancoso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 39 played minutes Rodeiro got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Fernando Pires. When Henrique Trancoso came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Caropanatuba fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Henrique Trancoso couldn't finish the play. Fabian Barthez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Renatinho Garcia in the 46th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Henrique Trancoso in the 48th minute of play forced Rodeiro's goalkeeper Fabian Barthez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 48th minute, Henrique Trancoso made a precise shot to the right of Fabian Barthez. Rodeiro's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ciro Maciel was the one to do the kick off. When Guga Marquez came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Caropanatuba fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Guga Marquez couldn't finish the play. When the match was over Caropanatuba could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Rodeiro throughout the match.
