Fabian Barthez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Baltazar Schmidt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 28th minute, Baltazar Schmidt reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Fabian Barthez. The goal made the score 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Francisco Koehler in the 34th minute of play forced Doctor X's goalkeeper Luís Trigo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39th match minute, Doctor X was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cláudio Borges to maneuver through the defense. After 44 played minutes Rodeiro got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Augusto Alcântara. After a rather tough play, Rodeiro's Ciro Maciel got a free kick in the 47th minute. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. João Francisco Koehler was the one to do the kick off. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 65 minutes into the match, Rodeiro's goal looked a bit too open when Baltazar Schmidt came free, but Fabian Barthez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 71st minute Baltazar Schmidt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabian Barthez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. João Francisco Koehler struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Luís Trigo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rodeiro. 81 minutes into the game, João Francisco Koehler was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rodeiro's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Doctor X the free kick. Luiz Fernando Ceresso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Fabian Barthez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
