The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Raphael Mazza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dráusio Azevedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 8 minutes into the match, Megafuts FC's goalkeeper Raphael Mazza had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Betão Varela. Megafuts FC's Duarte Silva got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gláuber Abraão charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gláuber Abraão the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Morro Grande FC's Gláuber Abraão got a free kick in the 17th minute. After 21 minutes of play Morro Grande FC's Gláuber Abraão was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. A collision led to Morro Grande FC getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Gláuber Abraão hit a great ball. Morro Grande FC's Cristóvão Félix played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Duarte Silva in the 23rd minute of play. In the 27th minute Gilson de Queirós shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristóvão Félix saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 34 minutes into the match, Megafuts FC's goal looked a bit too open when Betão Varela came free, but Raphael Mazza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fabinho Cunha hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Dráusio Azevedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Raphael Mazza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Raphael Mazza made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Hílton de Queirós sent off a good shot on target. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Betão Varela to strike the kick off in the second half. Betão Varela fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raphael Mazza having to interfere. The Morro Grande FC fans' excitement grew in the 57th match minute when Morro Grande FC's Hílton de Queirós looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 66 minutes into the game, Duarte Silva was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Megafuts FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Morro Grande FC the free kick. After 66 played minutes Megafuts FC got a freekick which was hit by Duarte Silva. Betão Varela came free in the 68th minute and tried to tip the ball over Raphael Mazza, but to the joy of Megafuts FC's supporters the ball hit the crossbar and out. When Hernani Batista fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Morro Grande FC's protests and gave Hernani Batista a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Morro Grande FC getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Hernani Batista hit a great ball. Raphael Mazza came out of the goal in the 74th minute to try and stop a shot by Morro Grande FC's Márcio Alvarenga. But to his dismay, Márcio Alvarenga quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. The throw-in from Jonas Carioca in the 81st minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Morro Grande FC's Márcio Alvarenga. Morro Grande FC's Betão Varela got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Raphael Mazza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Betão Varela in the 84th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Megafuts FC's zone, Dráusio Azevedo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Raphael Mazza came out of the goal and Dráusio Azevedo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gilson de Queirós sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Paulo Furtado fell near the penalty area in the 94th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Megafuts FC's protests and gave Paulo Furtado a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Morro Grande FC booed when Megafuts FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulo Furtado didn't get a good kick on the ball.
