Spectators: 7523 (Terracing: 5643, Seating: 1730, VIP seats: 150) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Luiz Paulo Queirós started the match with the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Juninho Abreu in the 6th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kléber Peres saved CUIABÁ EC from getting behind. Luiz Paulo Queirós received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Claudinho Abreu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 14th minute Aníbal Aparecido shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kléber Peres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vito Marques kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. When the match clock showed 18 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Juninho Abreu sped through CUIABÁ EC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Kléber Peres. In the 22nd match minute, CUIABÁ EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Remo Mota to maneuver through the defense. In the 24th minute, Vito Marques hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Juninho Abreu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kléber Peres having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in CUIABÁ EC's zone, Juninho Abreu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kléber Peres came out of the goal and Juninho Abreu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juninho Abreu in the 37th minute of play forced CUIABÁ EC's goalkeeper Kléber Peres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A nice corner shot did that Carlos Madureira got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Kléber Peres quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. When Juninho Abreu came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the EC Caucaia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Juninho Abreu couldn't finish the play. Gugu Cordeiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kléber Peres having to interfere. Kléber Peres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Madureira in the 44th minute of the match. A collision led to CUIABÁ EC getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Remo Mota hit a great ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Juninho Abreu to strike the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes EC Caucaia got a freekick which was hit by Hílton Palmeira. Kléber Peres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juninho Abreu in the 55th minute of the match. After 57 minutes CUIABÁ EC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Carlos Madureira who took care of the corner kick. The corner led EC Caucaia's Carlos Madureira to fire away a dangerous shot which Kléber Peres despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 66 minutes into the match, CUIABÁ EC's goal looked a bit too open when Juninho Abreu came free, but Kléber Peres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Remo Mota recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Juninho Abreus short, quick shot in the 74thth minute got Kléber Peres to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 81st minute of the match, Juninho Abreu tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Kléber Peres saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After having played for 82 minutes, Carlos Madureira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. EC Caucaia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carlos Madureira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to EC Caucaia getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Yuri Sampaio hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jairo Matorin in the 86th minute of play forced EC Caucaia's goalkeeper Claudinho Abreu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kléber Peres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juninho Abreu in the 88th minute of play. Gugu Cordeiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kléber Peres having to interfere. 91 minutes into the game, Sandrinho Fonseca was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. CUIABÁ EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave EC Caucaia the free kick. After a rather tough play, CUIABÁ EC's Sandrinho Fonseca got a free kick in the 91st minute. If Gugu Cordeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Claudinho Abreu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Remo Mota in the 95th minute of play. When the final whistle sounded EC Caucaia left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than CUIABÁ EC.
