Spectators: 7280 (Terracing: 5630, Seating: 1500, VIP seats: 150) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Dráusio Azevedo kicked off to start the match. CUIABÁ EC's Kléber Peres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dráusio Azevedo in the 5th minute of play. 10 minutes into the match, Luiz Paulo Queirós notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Morro Grande FC's Cristóvão Félix. Cristóvão Félix was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a rather tough play, CUIABÁ EC's João Pedro de Queiroz got a free kick in the 13th minute. Remo Mota sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Morro Grande FC booed when CUIABÁ EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Paulo Queirós didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Remo Mota in the 25th minute of play forced Morro Grande FC's goalkeeper Cristóvão Félix to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 27 played minutes CUIABÁ EC got a freekick which was hit by João Pedro de Queiroz. Dráusio Azevedo struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Kléber Peres didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Morro Grande FC. When Jairo Matorin fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CUIABÁ EC's protests and gave Jairo Matorin a yellow card for diving instead. Jairo Matorin hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Márcio Alvarenga had a good opportunity to score a goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went on the wrong side of the left post. Dráusio Azevedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Kléber Peres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kléber Peres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gláuber Abraão in the 35th minute of play. Betão Varela struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Kléber Peres didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Morro Grande FC. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luiz Paulo Queirós made a kick off. Dráusio Azevedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Betão Varela sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cristóvão Félix was a little too slow when Vito Marques got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 57th minute. The score was now 0-3. If Dráusio Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Betão Varela sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 67 minutes into the match, Morro Grande FC's Betão Varela sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kléber Peres narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Kléber Peres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dráusio Azevedo in the 68th minute of play. Dráusio Azevedo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Gláuber Abraão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dráusio Azevedo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Kléber Peres having to make a save. If Betão Varela had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Gláuber Abraão came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Morro Grande FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gláuber Abraão couldn't finish the play. In the 86th minute, CUIABÁ EC's Luiz Paulo Queirós ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Cristóvão Félix. Cristóvão Félix yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-4. Luiz Paulo Queirós fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristóvão Félix having to interfere. Dráusio Azevedo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Gláuber Abraão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Morro Grande FC lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
