Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Donato Hoffmann started the match with the kick off. Marcelo Toscano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rodrigo Ramalho, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. After 6 played minutes vasco got a freekick which was hit by Artur Pontes. An unexpectedly hard shot by Simão Rodrigues in the 8th minute of play forced vasco's goalkeeper Dênis Prata to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 12 minutes into the match, Donato Hoffmann had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dênis Prata. vasco's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Donato Hoffmann was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 17 minutes into the match, Donato Hoffmann notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of vasco's Dênis Prata. Dênis Prata was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Artur Pontes kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind vasco's goalkeeper Dênis Prata, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Simão Rodrigues took the ball and in the 24 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dênis Prata. Dênis Prata dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Rodrigo Ramalho kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Donato Hoffmann scored 0-4 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dênis Prata, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Botafogo's Donato Hoffmann got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Botafogo's Luís Britto got a free kick in the 44th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Botafogo's zone, Joaquim Vinhas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcelo Toscano came out of the goal and Joaquim Vinhas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-5 lead.

Joaquim Vinhas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 59 minutes, Davi Pinho mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the vasco and the Botafogo players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to vasco getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Davi Pinho hit a great ball. Botafogo made a substitution. Paulinho de Lara replaced Donato Hoffmann. After a rather tough play, vasco's Davi Pinho got a free kick in the 61st minute. Dênis Prata came out of the goal in the 62nd minute to try and stop a shot by Botafogo's Simão Rodrigues. But to his dismay, Simão Rodrigues quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. 68 minutes into the match, vasco's goalkeeper Dênis Prata had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Justino Rodriguez. Dênis Prata made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Paulinho de Lara sent off a good shot on target. vasco's Artur Pontes got his second yellow card of the match in the 69th minute. The referee ordered Artur Pontes off the ground. After 73 played minutes vasco got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Eduardo Berger. Luís Britto scored 0-8 in the 76th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dênis Prata, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 83rd minute, Joaquim Vinhas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marcelo Toscano was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-8. Marcelo Toscano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caco Araújo in the 90th minute of play. After having played for 91 minutes, Caco Araújo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. vasco's supporters crossed their fingers, but Caco Araújo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Botafogo's Luís Britto got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Dênis Prata showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Simão Rodrigues, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Botafogo had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
