An unexpectedly hard shot by Raí Bueno in the 10th minute of play forced Sobral F.C.'s goalkeeper Juninho Marques to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Rômulo do Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sobral F.C.'s Juninho Marques played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reginaldo Esteves in the 19th minute of play. Juninho Marques made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raí Bueno in the 22nd minute of play. José Pedro Diniz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Gugu Trancoso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rômulo do Valle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gugu Trancoso having to interfere. After having played for 30 minutes, Reginaldo Esteves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fluminense FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Reginaldo Esteves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Juninho Marques stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Reginaldo Esteves's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. The Fluminense FC fans' excitement grew in the 35th match minute when Fluminense FC's Raí Bueno looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 39th minute, Raí Bueno made a precise shot to the right of Juninho Marques. Sobral F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rômulo do Valle stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Rômulo do Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Rômulo do Valle came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Sobral F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rômulo do Valle couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Fluminense FC getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Walmir Guedes hit a great ball. In the 66th minute, Telmo Bertassi sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Fluminense FC's Gugu Trancoso didn't even have to move. Cássio de Godoi hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. Telmo Bertassi struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Gugu Trancoso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sobral F.C.. João Vítor de Moraes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Juninho Marques tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Juninho Marques showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reginaldo Esteves in the 79th minute of the match. Fluminense FC's Valdir da Silveira got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Juninho Marques showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reginaldo Esteves in the 98th minute of the match. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Fluminense FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
