In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Fluminense FC's goalkeeper Gugu Trancoso, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Haroldo Loureiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Fluminense FC booed when Black Hawks was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Germano Salles didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dinei Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gugu Trancoso having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Reginaldo Esteves was the one to do the kick off. Ramiro Urbano hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Gugu Trancoso was out of position in the 87 minute of play, and Ramiro Urbano capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ramiro Urbano really showed his touch with that goal: 0-3. Black Hawks played a much better game than Fluminense FC and deserved their victory. The Fluminense FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
