Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Diguinho Fernandez got the match started through his kick off. Veados's Dida Pinheiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Angelo Negri in the 5th minute of play. Dida Pinheiro came out of the goal and Marcinho Carvalho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half São Paulo FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Amadeu Couto stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st match minute, Veados was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Durval Zonta to maneuver through the defense. 56 minutes into the match, Veados's goalkeeper Dida Pinheiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marcinho Carvalho. Dida Pinheiro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Angelo Negri's shot from short distance in the 58th minute. Orlando Nunes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ademar Fontes having to make a save. 63 minutes into the game, Orlando Nunes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Veados's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave São Paulo FC the free kick. The supporters of São Paulo FC booed when Veados was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Orlando Nunes didn't get a good kick on the ball. São Paulo FC's Ademar Fontes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amadeu Couto in the 67th minute of play. When Olívio Vander fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored São Paulo FC's protests and gave Olívio Vander a yellow card for diving instead. After 68 played minutes São Paulo FC got a freekick which was hit by Olívio Vander. Marcinho Carvalho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
