Luís Gustavo Fernandes made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Edinho Mangueira sent off a good shot on target. Francisco Félix took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Belmiro Dracena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Agnaldo Alagoano fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ponte de Safena's protests and gave Agnaldo Alagoano a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Ponte de Safena getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Agnaldo Alagoano hit a great ball. In the 22nd minute, Pedro de Brito left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The G E Gálatas fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. 25 minutes into the match, Ponte de Safena's goal looked a bit too open when Edinho Mangueira came free, but Luís Gustavo Fernandes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Belmiro Dracena made a kick off. Rubens Carneiro hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. When Pedro de Brito came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the G E Gálatas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro de Brito couldn't finish the play. Luís Gustavo Fernandes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edinho Mangueira in the 55th minute of the match. G E Gálatas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Fernando Quirino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some careless play in the Ponte de Safena defense, Pedro de Brito kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Luís Gustavo Fernandes. The Ponte de Safena fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Luís Gustavo Fernandes should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Belmiro Dracena in the 74th minute of play forced G E Gálatas's goalkeeper Francisco Félix to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 77 minutes into the game, G E Gálatas's Luiz Fernando Quirino nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Luís Gustavo Fernandes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Luiz Fernando Quirino managed to get in a good position for a shot. G E Gálatas's supporters rose to their feet, but Luiz Fernando Quirino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luís Gustavo Fernandes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
