If Marcinho Aparecido had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 23rd minute, SC Internacional's Çelik Ozan ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Wágner Amorim. Wágner Amorim yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. The supporters of Imperatriz - MA booed when SC Internacional was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudinho Pombal didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience cheered when Claudinho Pombal's long shot passed Wágner Amorim's right side. It was 4-0, 28 minutes into the match. Wágner Amorim was a little too slow when Claudinho Pombal got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 30th minute. The score was now 5-0. Ezequiel Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 35th minute, Nildo Motta ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sylwester Nakoneczny was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-1. In the 39th minute Deivid Quadros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sylwester Nakoneczny saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Claudinho Pombal hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Fabrício Leme sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 5-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Çelik Ozan to strike the kick off in the second half. Wágner Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Çelik Ozan in the 52nd minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Deivid Quadros's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sylwester Nakoneczny was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. Nildo Motta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Sylwester Nakoneczny tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 66 minutes into the match, SC Internacional's goalkeeper Sylwester Nakoneczny had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Deivid Quadros. Nildo Motta received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. A very good chance. 74 minutes into the match, Çelik Ozan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Wágner Amorim. Imperatriz - MA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Çelik Ozan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-2. Sylwester Nakoneczny came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by Imperatriz - MA's Deivid Quadros. But to his dismay, Deivid Quadros quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-3. When the match had gone on for 81 minutes, Çelik Ozan put it in 7-3 from a short distance just to the right of Wágner Amorim. In the 87th minute Hermínio Hoffmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wágner Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Imperatriz - MA's Nildo Motta got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marcinho Aparecido could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Sylwester Nakoneczny made a huge save. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
