E.C BAHIA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Joanesia the free kick. After a rather tough play, E.C BAHIA's Horácio Domingues got a free kick in the 9th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Hortêncio Mendonça kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Joel dos Santos. That made the score 1-0 in the 12 minute of play. 15 minutes into the match, Joanesia's goalkeeper Joel dos Santos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Horácio Domingues. Joélson Teles could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Joel dos Santos made a huge save. Jorginho Mazza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maurinho Couto having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Joélson Teles managed to get in a good position for a shot. E.C BAHIA's supporters rose to their feet, but Joélson Teles was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joel dos Santos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Joel dos Santos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joélson Teles in the 58th minute of the match.
