Sandro Soares kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. If Russ Bull had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Cabo Frio's Jeferson Gaúcho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliézer Prado in the 52nd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Russ Bull's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hortêncio Freire was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. After 54 minutes, Gabriel Gaúcho mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AMATRICIANA and the Cabo Frio players grew even worse after the yellow card. Cabo Frio's Fernandinho Leme quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Wilson Pereira, made in the 66th minute of the game. Hortêncio Freire took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Russ Bull, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 75th minute, Russ Bull got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hortêncio Freire didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Russ Bull went, in the 77th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Elói Leal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to AMATRICIANA getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Natã Gomes hit a great ball. Hortêncio Freire made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Russ Bull in the 90th minute of play. Jeferson Gaúcho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Augusto Cunha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hortêncio Freire made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Russ Bull sent off a good shot on target. Maurício Terra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Cabo Frio players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
