The Piaui fans' excitement grew in the 8th match minute when Piaui's Bernardinho de Barros looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 16th minute, André Luís Castro reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Roberto Tinoco. The goal made the score 3-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bernardinho de Barros in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Roberto Tinoco prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Roberto Tinoco didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 22nd minute, which inside left pole to 4-0. After having played for 31 minutes, Maurinho Magalhães managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Piaui's supporters crossed their fingers, but Maurinho Magalhães was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Valdir Mello fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roberto Tinoco having to interfere. 36 minutes into the match, Marcus Monteiro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Roberto Tinoco. Indios SS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marcus Monteiro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. Marcus Monteiro struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Roberto Tinoco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Piaui. Roberto Tinoco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernardinho de Barros, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 6-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bernardinho de Barros made a kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Indios SS's goal looked a bit too open when André Luís Castro came free, but Roberto Tinoco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bernardinho de Barros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roberto Tinoco having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bernardinho de Barros in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Roberto Tinoco saved Indios SS from getting behind. Indios SS's Roberto Tinoco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by André Luís Castro in the 64th minute of play. Piaui's Bernardinho de Barros got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Fabiano Pimenta was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Charles Carioca showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 6-1 in the 69 minute of play. Fabiano Pimenta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Charles Carioca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fabiano Pimenta made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Hernani Sanches sent off a good shot on target. After 76 played minutes Indios SS got a freekick which was hit by Edinho Camargo. Maurinho Magalhães sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 80 minutes, Bernardinho de Barros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The Indios SS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Roberto Tinoco should have stopped the shot. In the 87th match minute, Indios SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Basílio de Medeiros to maneuver through the defense. André Luís Castro scored 8-1 in the 91st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Roberto Tinoco, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Indios SS's Roberto Tinoco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by André Luís Castro in the 95th minute of play. Piaui walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
