Israel Raminhos charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Israel Raminhos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 15 minutes into the match, VASCO DA ROLA's goalkeeper Cláudio Buffon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Raimundo Montenegro. Dinei de Lima could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Cláudio Buffon made a huge save. Cláudio Buffon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zé Carlos Nunes, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Israel Raminhos hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Cláudio Buffon was out of position in the 24 minute of play, and Zé Carlos Nunes capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Zé Carlos Nunes really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. Zé Carlos Nunes struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Cláudio Buffon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gerbasi A.C.. In the 30th minute, Dinei de Lima made a precise shot to the right of Cláudio Buffon. VASCO DA ROLA's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Alberto Mineiro kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. After 41 played minutes VASCO DA ROLA got a freekick which was hit by Antônio Ceresso. VASCO DA ROLA's Cláudio Buffon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Carlos Nunes in the 43rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wágner Dionísio in the 45th minute of play forced VASCO DA ROLA's goalkeeper Cláudio Buffon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zé Carlos Nunes to strike the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes VASCO DA ROLA's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Luís Guilherme Vasconcelos who took care of the corner kick. The supporters of Gerbasi A.C. booed when VASCO DA ROLA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Waldemar da Cunha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dinei de Lima recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dinei de Lima in the 59th minute of play forced VASCO DA ROLA's goalkeeper Cláudio Buffon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cláudio Buffon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dinei de Lima, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 83 played minutes VASCO DA ROLA got a freekick which was hit by Alberto Mineiro. If Luís Guilherme Vasconcelos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Zé Carlos Nunes came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Gerbasi A.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zé Carlos Nunes couldn't finish the play. In the 87th minute, Humberto Pires left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gerbasi A.C. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. Zé Carlos Nunes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Cláudio Buffon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
