After 32 minutes, Nico Ceresso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Racing Paulista 1999 and the Campestrinho SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Racing Paulista 1999's Kléberson de Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Fernando Matorin in the 40th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

51 minutes into the match, Campestrinho SC's goal looked a bit too open when Sílvio Fernandes came free, but Rogério Dionísio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zé Augusto Paraibano during the 78th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After having played for 79 minutes, Dida Martins managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Campestrinho SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dida Martins was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 82nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Racing Paulista 1999's goalkeeper Kléberson de Medeiros, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Campestrinho SC's Juvenal Gaúcho got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 87th minute Sílvio Fernandes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rogério Dionísio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Hamílton Goiano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Racing Paulista 1999's supporters rose to their feet, but Hamílton Goiano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rogério Dionísio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Fernando Matorin in the 93rd minute of play forced Racing Paulista 1999's goalkeeper Kléberson de Medeiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Racing Paulista 1999 fans cheered their team off the field, for while Campestrinho SC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
