The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 3rd minute, Gildo Cosme managed to get in a good position for a shot. Benfica AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Gildo Cosme was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Róbson Seco breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Jucati FC getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Maurício Galvão hit a great ball. Luizinho Ortiz's late challenge caught a Benfica AD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luizinho Ortiz helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Jucati FC getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Luizinho Ortiz hit a great ball. Róbson Seco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jarbas Marinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jucati FC's Róbson Seco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jarbas Marinho in the 13th minute of play. 18 minutes into the match, Benfica AD's goal looked a bit too open when Alexandre Neves came free, but Aloísio de Mendonça reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. José Augusto Tróia who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 26thth minute tested the skills of Aloísio de Mendonça when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 26 played minutes Benfica AD got a freekick which was hit by Fred Peixoto. In the 28th match minute, Benfica AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Júnior Mattos to maneuver through the defense. Róbson Seco didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Hermínio França went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Róbson Seco stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hermínio França's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. In the 40th match minute, Benfica AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bernardo Ribeiro to maneuver through the defense. Gildo Cosme's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Róbson Seco read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. In the 53rd minute, Alexandre Neves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hermínio França recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexandre Neves in the 56th minute of play forced Benfica AD's goalkeeper Aloísio de Mendonça to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hermínio França might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Róbson Seco. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hermínio França ran back to his position shaking his head. 59 minutes into the game, Jucati FC's José Augusto Tróia nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Aloísio de Mendonça made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Maurício Galvão might have been able to make a better finish in the 63rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Aloísio de Mendonça. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The Jucati FC fans' excitement grew in the 81st match minute when Jucati FC's José Augusto Tróia looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 84th match minute, Benfica AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fred Peixoto to maneuver through the defense. If José Augusto Tróia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 88th minute, Jarbas Marinho fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Róbson Seco, passed just outside the right post. Róbson Seco stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fred Peixoto's shot from short distance in the 90th minute. Júnior Mattos charged in rather forcefully in the 91st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Júnior Mattos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 91st minute, Júnior Mattos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 92 played minutes, Jucati FC's Cássio Gaúcho shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Aloísio de Mendonça came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Jucati FC reached it. For all the effort they put into the match, the Benfica AD players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Jucati FC.
