An unexpectedly hard shot by Eusébio Lira in the 2nd minute of play forced Ituano Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Sandrinho do Nascimento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sandrinho do Nascimento made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dorian Pontes in the 3rd minute of play. Dorival Vander hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. The supporters of Vasco Lima booed when Ituano Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dráusio Mineiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sandrinho do Nascimento was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Ricardo Teles. Sandrinho do Nascimento was out of position in the 14 minute of play, and Ricardo Teles capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ricardo Teles really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Sandrinho do Nascimento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ernani Bezerra, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. 23 minutes into the match, Ituano Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Dorian Pontes came free, but Sandrinho do Nascimento reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Dorian Pontes kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Sandrinho do Nascimento. That made the score 2-0 in the 25 minute of play. Nando Velloso kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. In the 32nd match minute, Ituano Futebol Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Célio França to maneuver through the defense. Ituano Futebol Clube's Sandrinho do Nascimento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edgar Maia in the 33rd minute of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 33rd minute of the game. One of Ituano Futebol Clube:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Vasco Lima:s goal. Sandrinho do Nascimento had in the 36thth minute some difficulties stopping Edgar Maia's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After 36 minutes of play, Vasco Lima's Edgar Maia made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sandrinho do Nascimento was left in no man's land by his defense there! Sandrinho do Nascimento took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dorian Pontes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 47 minutes, Rogério Lima managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ituano Futebol Clube's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rogério Lima was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dorian Pontes made a kick off. When Rogério Lima came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Ituano Futebol Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rogério Lima couldn't finish the play. In the 53rd minute Dorian Pontes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sandrinho do Nascimento saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 55 minutes into the game, Dorian Pontes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Sandrinho do Nascimento was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ituano Futebol Clube's Sandrinho do Nascimento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ricardo Teles in the 86th minute of play. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ituano Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Sandrinho do Nascimento, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ricardo Teles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sandrinho do Nascimento having to interfere. 93 minutes into the match, Ituano Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Eusébio Lira came free, but Sandrinho do Nascimento reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sandrinho do Nascimento made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dorian Pontes in the 95th minute of play. When the referee ended the match the Vasco Lima players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
