Oséas Mangueira charged in rather forcefully in the 9th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Oséas Mangueira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Oséas Mangueira hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. It was beautiful to see Sorocaba's Zeca Coelho in action when he in the 11th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Miguel Pirani showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chiquinho Fantini in the 17th minute of the match. Miguel Pirani took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chiquinho Fantini, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 20th minute Desportivo Apollo XIII were awarded a corner. Fernando Paraibano went to the cornerflag to take it. Eduardo Vianna blasted a shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Miguel Pirani having to make a save. After 22 played minutes Desportivo Apollo XIII got a freekick which was hit by Chiquinho Fantini. 26 minutes into the game, Sorocaba's Carlos Eduardo Lira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Víktor de Souza made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geraldo Capixaba in the 31st minute of play forced Desportivo Apollo XIII's goalkeeper Víktor de Souza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fernando Paraibano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Caio Machado's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 34thth minute, Miguel Pirani skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 36 minutes into the match, Desportivo Apollo XIII's goal looked a bit too open when Jailson da Fonseca came free, but Víktor de Souza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Víktor de Souza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jailson da Fonseca, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Chiquinho Fantini's late challenge caught a Sorocaba's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Chiquinho Fantini helped the player get up and apologised. Chiquinho Fantini kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Fernando Paraibano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miguel Pirani having to interfere.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Geraldo Capixaba was the one to do the kick off. Miguel Pirani came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by Desportivo Apollo XIII's Oséas Mangueira. But to his dismay, Oséas Mangueira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Víktor de Souza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Geraldo Capixaba, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Sorocaba's Miguel Pirani played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eduardo Vianna in the 62nd minute of play. In the 67th minute, Sorocaba's Geraldo Capixaba dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eduardo Vianna in the 70th minute of play forced Sorocaba's goalkeeper Miguel Pirani to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Miguel Pirani stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eduardo Vianna's shot from short distance in the 72nd minute. Caio Machado hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jailson da Fonseca got free with Víktor de Souza in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Eduardo Vianna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miguel Pirani having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Desportivo Apollo XIII's Chiquinho Fantini got a free kick in the 89th minute. After 92 minutes of play, Sorocaba's Zeca Coelho made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Víktor de Souza was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Geraldo Capixaba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Chants of Sorocaba echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Desportivo Apollo XIII had held the ball for most of the match.
