Afonso Cordeiro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. After a rather tough play, PATO BRANCO FC's Zé Roberto de Toledo got a free kick in the 9th minute. Eulalio Peio scored 0-3 in the 11th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Afonso Cordeiro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Wágner de Lara kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. If Faustão Alagoano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 19 minutes into the match, PATO BRANCO FC's Eulalio Peio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Afonso Cordeiro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 19 minutes, Bruninho de Barros mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gurjao and the PATO BRANCO FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of PATO BRANCO FC booed when Gurjao was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruninho de Barros didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 22 minutes of play, PATO BRANCO FC's Faustão Alagoano made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Afonso Cordeiro was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gurjao's goalkeeper Afonso Cordeiro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Lukáš Modrić had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Afonso Cordeiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lukáš Modrić, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. 29 minutes had been played when some careless play by Gurjao's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Lukáš Modrić was slow to take the kick. During this time PATO BRANCO FC's players had a chance to rest. 31 minutes into the match, Gurjao's goal looked a bit too open when Wágner de Lara came free, but Afonso Cordeiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eulalio Peio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Faustão Alagoano struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Afonso Cordeiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for PATO BRANCO FC. In the 37th minute, Lukáš Modrić ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Afonso Cordeiro was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. In the 40th minute Lukáš Modrić shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Afonso Cordeiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Konstantinos Svolos might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Afonso Cordeiro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Konstantinos Svolos ran back to his position shaking his head.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lukáš Modrić to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Faustão Alagoano in the 55th minute of play forced Gurjao's goalkeeper Afonso Cordeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. From a short distance, PATO BRANCO FC's Lukáš Modrić, in the 80th minute, tried to place the ball behind Afonso Cordeiro, but the ball hit the right post on the wrong side and went out. Wágner de Lara could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Afonso Cordeiro made a huge save. Mariano Admon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Faustão Alagoano came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the PATO BRANCO FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Faustão Alagoano couldn't finish the play. In the 88th minute Mariano Admon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Afonso Cordeiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Faustão Alagoano took the ball and in the 89 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Afonso Cordeiro. Afonso Cordeiro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-11. Afonso Cordeiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eulalio Peio in the 94th minute of play.
