Zé Pedro Hermes's late challenge caught a Gurjao's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Zé Pedro Hermes helped the player get up and apologised. Zé Pedro Hermes hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. Cléberson Dracena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juarês Maciel having to interfere. Bruninho de Barros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juarês Maciel having to interfere. After 17 played minutes Ibiquera got a freekick which was hit by Caetano Bezerra. Juarês Maciel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luís Eduardo Cardoso, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bruninho de Barros in the 27th minute of play forced Ibiquera's goalkeeper Juarês Maciel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Juarês Maciel didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cléberson Dracena went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 33 minutes into the match, Ibiquera's goal looked a bit too open when Cléberson Dracena came free, but Juarês Maciel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Ibiquera fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Juarês Maciel should have stopped the shot. In the 47th match minute, Ibiquera was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zé Pedro Hermes to maneuver through the defense. When Cássio Duarte came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Gurjao fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cássio Duarte couldn't finish the play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. The referee ignored Ibiquera's protests and gave Silas Salgado a yellow card for diving instead.
