The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Itabapoana SP's Genílson Donatello managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Renato de Toledo in the 3 minute of the game. When the match clock showed 4 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Jerônimo Favoretto sped through Charqueada EC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rubens Neves. Rubens Neves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jerônimo Favoretto in the 7th minute of play. After having played for 11 minutes, Davi Palmeira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Itabapoana SP's supporters crossed their fingers, but Davi Palmeira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Davi Palmeira came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Itabapoana SP fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Davi Palmeira couldn't finish the play. Rubens Neves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Davi Palmeira in the 15th minute of play. Rubens Neves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Davi Palmeira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Davi Palmeira in the 22nd minute of play forced Charqueada EC's goalkeeper Rubens Neves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Charqueada EC's Rubens Neves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jerônimo Favoretto in the 25th minute of play. Davi Palmeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rubens Neves having to interfere. When Davi Palmeira came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Itabapoana SP fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Davi Palmeira couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Charqueada EC getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Evaristo Cunha hit a great ball. In the 36th minute of the match Virgílio Barbosa shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rubens Neves showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Jerônimo Favoretto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rubens Neves stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jerônimo Favoretto's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. Evaristo Cunha kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Luís Lima recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Davi Palmeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Itabapoana SP were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Jerônimo Favoretto succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-2 in the 52nd playminute. After having played for 56 minutes, Adriano Vargas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Charqueada EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adriano Vargas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 61st minute Evaristo Cunha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Josué Macedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 63 played minutes, Charqueada EC's Renato de Toledo shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Josué Macedo came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Charqueada EC reached it. Davi Palmeira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Rubens Neves made a huge save. Josué Macedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emílio Mendonça in the 67th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Itabapoana SP defense, Evaristo Cunha kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Josué Macedo. The Itabapoana SP fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Josué Macedo should have stopped the shot. A hard shot 76 in the game by Jerônimo Favoretto from a close distance when the talented Rubens Neves managed to make a qualified save. Charqueada EC's players were relieved. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Emílio Mendonça managed to get in a good position for a shot. Charqueada EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Emílio Mendonça was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Josué Macedo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 87th minute, Virgílio Barbosa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With an all-out effort, Itabapoana SP's Rubens Neves threw himself towards the right post 91 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Jerônimo Favoretto, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 92 played minutes Charqueada EC got a freekick which was hit by Adriano Vargas. Jerônimo Favoretto didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 1-3 via right post in the game's 94th minute. Itabapoana SP's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement! The Itabapoana SP supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Itabapoana SP would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
