Pubas's Amadeu Rodrigues got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Variant 1971's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Amílton Coelho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cauã Barbosa in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mauro da Mata saved Pubas from getting behind. After having played for 68 minutes, Manoel Favoretto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pubas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Manoel Favoretto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 69 minutes into the match, Nilson Vaz notched a goal, 6-1, to the right of Variant 1971's Eriberto Chaves. Eriberto Chaves was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 77th minute Amílton Coelho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eriberto Chaves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eriberto Chaves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nilson Vaz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Variant 1971 defense, Nilson Vaz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eriberto Chaves. The Variant 1971 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eriberto Chaves should have stopped the shot. After having played for 86 minutes, Nilson Vaz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Eriberto Chaves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nilson Vaz, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Cauã Barbosa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Variant 1971's supporters rose to their feet, but Cauã Barbosa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mauro da Mata breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 95th minute Nilson Vaz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eriberto Chaves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nilson Vaz scored 9-1 in the 97th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Eriberto Chaves, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
