E C Barra da tijuca's Vito Ramalho proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save E C Barra da tijuca from getting a goal against them. In the 11th minute, Botafogo - RP's Teodoro das Neves dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. 15 minutes into the match, E C Barra da tijuca's goalkeeper Vito Ramalho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sílvio Braga. The crowd rose to their feet as Botafogo - RP's Cristiano Maciel slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Vito Ramalho. That made the score 2-0 after 18 minutes of play. 25 minutes into the match, E C Barra da tijuca's goal looked a bit too open when Benê Correia came free, but Vito Ramalho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Teodoro das Neves scored 4-0 in the 26th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Vito Ramalho, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Teodoro das Neves in the 32nd minute of play forced E C Barra da tijuca's goalkeeper Vito Ramalho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. E C Barra da tijuca's Vito Ramalho proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save E C Barra da tijuca from getting a goal against them. Vito Ramalho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Teodoro das Neves in the 35th minute. In the 39th minute, Arí Corrêa reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Vito Ramalho. The goal made the score 5-0. Vito Ramalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Teodoro das Neves, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 5-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Teodoro das Neves stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Teodoro das Neves in the 51st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vito Ramalho saved E C Barra da tijuca from getting behind. After 53 played minutes, Botafogo - RP's Edvaldo Bittencourt shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Vito Ramalho came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Botafogo - RP reached it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristiano Maciel in the 54th minute of play forced E C Barra da tijuca's goalkeeper Vito Ramalho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 56th minute, Guga da Silveira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Botafogo - RP's Falcão Pereira tried to score from far away in the 58th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 59 minutes into the match, Sílvio Braga had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vito Ramalho. E C Barra da tijuca's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sílvio Braga was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. In the 63rd minute Arí Corrêa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vito Ramalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 董傲坚 sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Vito Ramalho came out of the goal in the 67th minute to try and stop a shot by Botafogo - RP's Arí Corrêa. But to his dismay, Arí Corrêa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-0. An unexpected shot in the 72nd minute by 董傲坚 got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 75th minute, Cristiano Maciel ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vito Ramalho was frozen by the shot and now it was 8-0. 董傲坚's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Conal MacDonald firmly grabbed it by the left post. Vito Ramalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristiano Maciel, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. After a rather tough play, E C Barra da tijuca's Guga da Silveira got a free kick in the 84th minute. Vito Ramalho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristiano Maciel in the 87th minute of the match. Luiz Paulo Godoi kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in E C Barra da tijuca's zone, Falcão Pereira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vito Ramalho came out of the goal and Falcão Pereira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vito Ramalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teodoro das Neves in the 96th minute of play. Botafogo - RP walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
