Grêmio Garibaldi's Bernardinho Pinho got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rajado's Alfredinho de Medeiros got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Wágner Fontes kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Dário Peres in the 56th minute of play forced Rajado's goalkeeper Afonsinho da Mata to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Afonsinho da Mata made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Bernardinho Pinho sent off a good shot on target. 61 minutes into the match, Rajado's goal looked a bit too open when Dário Peres came free, but Afonsinho da Mata reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wágner Fontes's late challenge caught a Grêmio Garibaldi's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
