Amílton Paes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Augusto Paes, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. With his leg Franklin Linhares managed to avoid a goal in the 17thth minute, when Abertao's Alexandre da Cunha fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The supporters of Abertao booed when Gostoso AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Humberto Carvalho didn't get a good kick on the ball. José Paulo Melo hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Luisinho Vergílio kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Jaime Pereira struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Amílton Paes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gostoso AD. Alexandre da Cunha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Gonçalo Vale might have been able to make a better finish in the 30th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Franklin Linhares. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gonçalo Vale ran back to his position shaking his head. If Alexandre da Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. José Paulo Melo kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. After having played for 41 minutes, João Augusto Paes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gostoso AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but João Augusto Paes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gonçalo Vale stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Abertao getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Ernesto Medeiros hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Abertao's Raimundo Dante got a free kick in the 55th minute. 63 minutes into the game, Gostoso AD's João Augusto Paes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Amílton Paes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. João Augusto Paes struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Amílton Paes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gostoso AD. When Cipriano Xavier fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gostoso AD's protests and gave Cipriano Xavier a yellow card for diving instead. In the 67th minute, Cipriano Xavier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Abertao's Amílton Paes got control of the ball when João Augusto Paes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gostoso AD's Franklin Linhares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gonçalo Vale in the 75th minute of play. If Alexandre da Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Jaime Pereira kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Amílton Paes. That made the score 1-3 in the 78 minute of play. In the 87th minute, Alexandre da Cunha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gonçalo Vale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jaime Pereira blasted a shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Amílton Paes having to make a save. Franklin Linhares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gonçalo Vale, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Gostoso AD had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
