The audience was convinced that Leopoldo Meireles's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lucas de Medeiros was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. Carlinhos Andrade charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After a rather tough play, Santos Futebol Clube's Délio Mangueira got a free kick in the 95th minute. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
