Rebentao EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Timão United the free kick. After a rather tough play, Rebentao EC's Gilberto Souto got a free kick in the 14th minute. Umberto Senna showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hermínio Trigo in the 17th minute of the match. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hermínio Trigo to make the kick off. When the match had gone on for 52 minutes, Luiz Eduardo Fernandez took a quick shot and it went in 0-1 without a chance for Umberto Senna to make any attempt to save it. Hermínio Trigo received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Umberto Senna came out and tried to block the shot, but Hermínio Trigo slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 57th minute. Umberto Senna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hermínio Trigo in the 65th minute of play. Agostinho Nascimento made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Afonso Cosme in the 67th minute of play. João Travassos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Agostinho Nascimento tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Rebentao EC booed when Timão United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lauro Chaves didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rebentao EC's João Travassos got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 94th minute Afonso Cosme shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Agostinho Nascimento saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Timão United walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
