The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Hernani Saldanha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Palmares FC defense, Rafa Vianna kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aníbal de Almeida. The Palmares FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aníbal de Almeida should have stopped the shot. Aníbal de Almeida showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rafa Vianna, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. In the 18th minute Laércio Mesquita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aníbal de Almeida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Diogo Brito charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Diogo Brito the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Seleção do Buteco booed when Palmares FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diogo Brito didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pedro Augusto Rezende scored 1-1 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Joel Vargas, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Aníbal de Almeida took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laércio Mesquita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Laércio Mesquita took the ball and in the 32 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Aníbal de Almeida. The Seleção do Buteco fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Laércio Mesquita was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Palmares FC's Waldemar Motta got a free kick in the 80th minute. Edvaldo Arruda received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Aníbal de Almeida came out and tried to block the shot, but Edvaldo Arruda slotted it home off the left post making it 1-7 in the 82nd minute. Seleção do Buteco's Joel Vargas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedro Augusto Rezende in the 86th minute of play. A collision led to Seleção do Buteco getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Zeca Velloso hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rafa Vianna got free with Aníbal de Almeida in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cauan Recife was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 94 minutes into the match. 94 minutes into the game, one of Seleção do Buteco:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 97th minute there was a penalty for Palmares FC. Diogo Brito stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Joel Vargas. 2-7.
