After a rather tough play, Avencas AD's David Nascimento got a free kick in the 2nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Neropolis SC's zone, Zeca Barral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Luís Magalhães came out of the goal and Zeca Barral tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Pedro Luís Magalhães didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Zeca Barral went, in the 11th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. If Vânderson Albuquerque had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 20 minutes of play, Avencas AD's Zeca Barral made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Pedro Luís Magalhães was left in no man's land by his defense there! Pedro Luís Magalhães made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zeca Barral in the 28th minute of play. Pedro Luís Magalhães showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zézinho Aguiar in the 29th minute of the match. Zézinho Aguiar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Luís Magalhães having to interfere. When Zé Roberto Proença fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Neropolis SC's protests and gave Zé Roberto Proença a yellow card for diving instead. Zé Roberto Proença kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zeca Barral in the 35th minute of play forced Neropolis SC's goalkeeper Pedro Luís Magalhães to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zé Roberto Proença hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. 40 minutes into the match, Avencas AD's Duda de Queirós broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Zézinho Aguiar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Avencas AD were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zeca Barral to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Avencas AD booed when Neropolis SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dito Baptista didn't get a good kick on the ball. David Nascimento got his second yellow card in the match during the 58th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. David Nascimento hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. In the 63rd minute, Francisco Vargas made a precise shot to the right of Leopoldo Oliveira. Avencas AD's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Zézinho Aguiar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Neropolis SC's zone, Zézinho Aguiar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Luís Magalhães came out of the goal and Zézinho Aguiar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Francisco Vargas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Leopoldo Oliveira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vânderson Albuquerque in the 79th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Leopoldo Oliveira saved Avencas AD from getting behind. In the 79th match minute, Avencas AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Norberto Munhoz to maneuver through the defense. In the 81st minute Francisco Vargas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leopoldo Oliveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Neropolis SC's Francisco Vargas got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Avencas AD's Leopoldo Oliveira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vânderson Albuquerque in the 84th minute of play. Vânderson Albuquerque fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leopoldo Oliveira having to interfere. In the 90th minute Vânderson Albuquerque shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leopoldo Oliveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Norberto Munhoz's late challenge caught a Neropolis SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Norberto Munhoz helped the player get up and apologised. After 92 played minutes Avencas AD got a freekick which was hit by Norberto Munhoz. The Avencas AD supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Avencas AD would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
