When the match clock showed 4 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Romário Baggio sped through ESQUADRILHA DA FUMAÇA F.C's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Gilvan Rosa. In the 8thth minute of the game Romário Baggio who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but ESQUADRILHA DA FUMAÇA F.C's Gilvan Rosa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zé Roberto Linares got free with Luisinho Martins in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 11thth minute of the game Romário Baggio who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but ESQUADRILHA DA FUMAÇA F.C's Gilvan Rosa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Romário Baggio took the ball and in the 14 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gilvan Rosa. Gilvan Rosa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Gilvan Rosa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Romário Baggio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ricardo de Carvalho came free with the goalkeeper in the 22nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Luisinho Martins could save by the left post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Romário Baggio in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gilvan Rosa saved ESQUADRILHA DA FUMAÇA F.C from getting behind. Luisinho Martins was a little too slow when Gilmar Domingues got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 25th minute. The score was now 1-2. Gilvan Rosa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Romário Baggio in the 32nd minute of play. Dalmo Penha took the ball and in the 33 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gilvan Rosa. Gilvan Rosa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. Themis Kalokerinos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gilvan Rosa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 2-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Romário Baggio was the one to do the kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Laje de Pedra's Dalmo Penha slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gilvan Rosa. That made the score 2-4 after 53 minutes of play. Romário Baggio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilvan Rosa having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Themis Kalokerinos got free with Gilvan Rosa in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ricardo de Carvalho's late challenge caught a Laje de Pedra's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ricardo de Carvalho helped the player get up and apologised. After 63 played minutes ESQUADRILHA DA FUMAÇA F.C got a freekick which was hit by Ricardo de Carvalho. 64 minutes into the match, Romário Baggio notched a goal, 2-5, to the right of ESQUADRILHA DA FUMAÇA F.C's Gilvan Rosa. Gilvan Rosa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Romário Baggios short, quick shot in the 73rdth minute got Gilvan Rosa to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Gilvan Rosa made a fantastic save in the 74th minute, when Romário Baggio sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Romário Baggio in the 77th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gilvan Rosa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some careless play in the ESQUADRILHA DA FUMAÇA F.C defense, Romário Baggio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gilvan Rosa. The ESQUADRILHA DA FUMAÇA F.C fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gilvan Rosa should have stopped the shot. When Yuri Gaúcho came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Laje de Pedra fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Yuri Gaúcho couldn't finish the play. 85 minutes into the match, Romário Baggio dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Gilvan Rosa, 2-7. Laje de Pedra's José Augusto Camargo got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 92nd minute of the match, Romário Baggio got a very nice opportunity to score, but Gilvan Rosa was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Giuseppe Viana scored 3-7 in the 94th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luisinho Martins, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the match was over Laje de Pedra could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than ESQUADRILHA DA FUMAÇA F.C throughout the match.
