The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Tiaguinho Pereira was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 6 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Caiuba's Tiaguinho Pereira got a free kick in the 7th minute. When Hamdullah Olgunsoy came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the S.E.R Mergulhão - RS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hamdullah Olgunsoy couldn't finish the play. 9 minutes into the match, André Luiz Pitta notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Caiuba's Marco Varela. Marco Varela was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Durval Arantes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Caiuba fans' excitement grew in the 18th match minute when Caiuba's Luiz Paulo do Nascimento looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Marco Varela made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Hamdullah Olgunsoy sent off a good shot on target. Caiuba's Marco Varela played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiaguinho Soeiro in the 25th minute of play. 26 minutes into the match, Caiuba's goalkeeper Marco Varela had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Durval Arantes. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tiaguinho Soeiro got free with Marco Varela in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 31 minutes, Luiz Paulo do Nascimento managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Caiuba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Paulo do Nascimento was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match had gone on for 33 minutes, Luiz Paulo do Nascimento put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Manfred Låsberg. Manfred Låsberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Paulo do Nascimento, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. After a rather tough play, S.E.R Mergulhão - RS's André Luiz Pitta got a free kick in the 36th minute. The audience was convinced that Tiaguinho Soeiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marco Varela was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. In the 39th minute Zekai Tefhim shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marco Varela saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marco Varela made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tiaguinho Soeiro in the 41st minute of play. In the 43rd minute, Hamdullah Olgunsoy left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The S.E.R Mergulhão - RS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. Luiz Paulo do Nascimento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-2 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luiz Paulo do Nascimento stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Manfred Låsberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Paulo do Nascimento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Caiuba booed when S.E.R Mergulhão - RS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tiaguinho Soeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the S.E.R Mergulhão - RS defense, Luiz Paulo do Nascimento kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Manfred Låsberg. The S.E.R Mergulhão - RS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Manfred Låsberg should have stopped the shot. In the 58th match minute, Caiuba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Betão Queiroz to maneuver through the defense. Marco Varela took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tiaguinho Soeiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Kiko Simões fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Caiuba's protests and gave Kiko Simões a yellow card for diving instead. After 60 played minutes Caiuba got a freekick which was hit by Kiko Simões. Manfred Låsberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Paulo do Nascimento in the 62nd minute of play. Caiuba's Marco Varela played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dedé Mello in the 68th minute of play. Durval Arantes kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Hamdullah Olgunsoy recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tiaguinho Soeiro took the ball and in the 73 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marco Varela. Marco Varela dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-3. Marco Varela made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from André Luiz Pitta in the 80th minute of play. Marco Varela showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tiaguinho Soeiro in the 81st minute of the match. Luiz Paulo do Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manfred Låsberg having to interfere. Belmiro Nogueira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Manfred Låsberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Caiuba's Tiago Gabriel Varela got a free kick in the 90th minute. In the 92nd minute Tiaguinho Soeiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marco Varela saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 94th match minute, S.E.R Mergulhão - RS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manfredo Quintal to maneuver through the defense. S.E.R Mergulhão - RS were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Caiuba for a fine match.
