When the match had gone on for 3 minutes, Sydney da Mata put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Gerson Nóbrega. Sydney da Mata in the 7thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Gerson Nóbrega, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. When Damazy Kostrzewski came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the SC ITAJAI fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Damazy Kostrzewski couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Nando de Sousa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Recompensa's supporters rose to their feet, but Nando de Sousa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luiz Fabiano Paiva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 15th minute, Sydney da Mata ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gerson Nóbrega was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. When Sydney da Mata came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the SC ITAJAI fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sydney da Mata couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nando de Sousa in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luiz Fabiano Paiva saved SC ITAJAI from getting behind. Sydney da Mata's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gerson Nóbrega read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. In the 33rd minute, Sydney da Mata got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 35 minutes into the match, SC ITAJAI's goal looked a bit too open when Nando de Sousa came free, but Luiz Fabiano Paiva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 39th minute, Sydney da Mata got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Telmo Melo's late challenge caught a Recompensa's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Telmo Melo helped the player get up and apologised. Telmo Melo kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nando de Sousa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Sydney da Mata came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the SC ITAJAI fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sydney da Mata couldn't finish the play. Hílton Rocha took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 59th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Gerson Nóbrega. Recompensa's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 61 minutes, Sydney da Mata made it 4-0 with a short kick to the right side. Recompensa's Gerson Nóbrega tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. If Tadeu Novaes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Narciso Garcia charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Narciso Garcia the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, SC ITAJAI's Narciso Garcia got a free kick in the 67th minute. Pedrinho Aguiar, 68 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. SC ITAJAI's Paulinho de Azevedo was substituted for Sydney da Mata. In the 78thth minute of the game Paulinho de Azevedo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Recompensa's Gerson Nóbrega was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Recompensa's zone, Paulinho de Azevedo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gerson Nóbrega came out of the goal and Paulinho de Azevedo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gerson Nóbrega came out of the goal in the 80th minute to try and stop a shot by SC ITAJAI's Paulinho de Azevedo. But to his dismay, Paulinho de Azevedo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. After having played for 84 minutes, Paulinho de Azevedo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC ITAJAI's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulinho de Azevedo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match had gone on for 86 minutes, Paulinho de Azevedo put it in 7-0 from a short distance just to the right of Gerson Nóbrega. Gerson Nóbrega didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Paulinho de Azevedo went, in the 89th minute, to the upper right corner, 8-0 was the resulting score. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The SC ITAJAI fans cheered their team off the field, for while Recompensa had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
