The referee ignored Maceió Ice Dragons's protests and gave Paulão Pombal a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Maceió Ice Dragons getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Paulão Pombal hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Maceió Ice Dragons's Júlio Pires got a free kick in the 12th minute. Júlio Pires hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. José Paulo Cosme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulão Pombal in the 24th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Rio Branco EC's Richard Ferraz threw himself towards the right post 28 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Caetano Chaves, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 34 minutes into the game, Caetano Chaves recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Richard Ferraz. Caetano Chaves showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Luís Paulo Dias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. José Paulo Cosme tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zé Carlos de Amaral made a kick off. In the 51st minute, Caetano Chaves ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Richard Ferraz was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Rio Branco EC's José Paulo Cosme proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Rio Branco EC from getting a goal against them. Paulão Pombal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Paulão Pombal came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Maceió Ice Dragons fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paulão Pombal couldn't finish the play. In the 83rd minute, Paulão Pombal left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Maceió Ice Dragons fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Paulão Pombal in the 90thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of José Paulo Cosme, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Paulo Dias in the 91st minute of play forced Rio Branco EC's goalkeeper José Paulo Cosme to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 92ndth minute of the game Luís Paulo Dias who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rio Branco EC's José Paulo Cosme was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Rio Branco EC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
