Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Wiig's Luís Gustavo Brito started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Délio Pombal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Luiz Negri, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wiig's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Giuseppe Damião in the 5th minute. In the 6th minute, Zé Carlos de Amaral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Giuseppe Damião came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Wiig fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Giuseppe Damião couldn't finish the play. 8 minutes into the match, Rio Branco EC's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Gustavo Brito came free, but José Paulo Cosme reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Wiig defense, Zé Carlos de Amaral kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Délio Pombal. The Wiig fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Délio Pombal should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caetano Chaves in the 17th minute of play forced Wiig's goalkeeper Délio Pombal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, André Luiz Negri managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rio Branco EC's supporters rose to their feet, but André Luiz Negri was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Délio Pombal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Alfredão Gonçalves fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Wiig's protests and gave Alfredão Gonçalves a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Wiig getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Alfredão Gonçalves hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Rio Branco EC's zone, Tião de Medeiros stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Paulo Cosme came out of the goal and Tião de Medeiros tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Rio Branco EC's José Paulo Cosme got control of the ball when Afonsinho Veiga tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rogério Nunes kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Marcus Jonasson took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 33rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Délio Pombal. Wiig's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. With a little luck, Rio Branco EC's José Paulo Cosme got control of the ball when Tião de Medeiros tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 37th match minute, Wiig was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfredão Gonçalves to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers André Luiz Negri in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Délio Pombal saved Wiig from getting behind. Délio Pombal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zé Carlos de Amaral in the 45th minute of the match. Zé Carlos de Amaral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. André Luiz Negri was the one to do the kick off. An unexpected shot in the 56th minute by Zé Carlos de Amaral got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Luís Gustavo Brito kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Luís Gustavo Brito fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Paulo Cosme having to interfere. Ludomir Komanski kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Folke Lekberg's late challenge caught a Wiig's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Folke Lekberg helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Rio Branco EC's Folke Lekberg got a free kick in the 71st minute. Rio Branco EC's José Paulo Cosme played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tião de Medeiros in the 73rd minute of play. Rio Branco EC's Caetano Chaves got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Rio Branco EC's zone, Tião de Medeiros stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Paulo Cosme came out of the goal and Tião de Medeiros tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wiig's Tião de Medeiros got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Délio Pombal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caetano Chaves, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Tião de Medeiros recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. André Luiz Negri sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match was over Rio Branco EC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Wiig throughout the match.
