In the 6thth minute of the game Valdo Barros who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but S C Novaki's Mané Trancoso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Manoel Lopes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dário Goiano having to interfere. In the 12th minute Manoel Lopes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dário Goiano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 14th minute, Samuca Peres ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mané Trancoso was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. After a defensive mix-up in S C Novaki's zone, Samuca Peres stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mané Trancoso came out of the goal and Samuca Peres tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of S C Novaki booed when Mataruna EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Samuel de Almeida didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 21 minutes, Dida Batista managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. S C Novaki's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dida Batista was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mataruna EC's Dário Goiano proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Mataruna EC from getting a goal against them. If Alfredo Novaes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, S C Novaki's Edu Marinho got a free kick in the 34th minute.
