With 16 minutes on the clock, Alexandre Varela commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Real Cajazeiras's goalkeeper Lucas Marquez, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Pedro Vaz fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Apinage SC's protests and gave Pedro Vaz a yellow card for diving instead. Michel Chaves's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 31stth minute, Richard de Mendonça skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 36th minute Samuel da Cunha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lucas Marquez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Michel Chaves got free with Richard de Mendonça in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Real Cajazeiras's Michel Chaves got a free kick in the 41st minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
