Ricardinho Fernandes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulo José Ceresso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rogério de Lima received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Zé Roberto Siqueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zé Roberto Siqueira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lino Tavares in the 10th minute of the match. Zé Roberto Siqueira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rogério de Lima in the 15th minute of play. Zé Carlos Motta missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 22 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Ricardinho Fernandes right hand side. Ricardinho Fernandes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulo José Ceresso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ricardinho Fernandes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Murillo Queirós, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. After some careless play in the Corinthians do Interior defense, Lino Tavares kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zé Roberto Siqueira. The Corinthians do Interior fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zé Roberto Siqueira should have stopped the shot. When the match had gone on for 32 minutes, Paulo José Ceresso took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Ricardinho Fernandes to make any attempt to save it. In the 36thth minute of the game Lino Tavares who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Corinthians do Interior's Zé Roberto Siqueira was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Rogério de Lima received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Zé Roberto Siqueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lino Tavares in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Zé Roberto Siqueira saved Corinthians do Interior from getting behind. Rogério de Lima sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 44 minutes into the match, Corinthians do Interior's goal looked a bit too open when Lino Tavares came free, but Zé Roberto Siqueira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 45th minute, Rogério de Lima ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zé Roberto Siqueira was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Paulo José Ceresso to strike the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Lino Tavares dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Zé Roberto Siqueira, 1-3. After a rather tough play, Corinthians do Interior's Enio Trancoso got a free kick in the 57th minute. In the 58th minute, Lino Tavares got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 62 minutes, Rogério de Lima managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Iracema's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rogério de Lima was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Emerson Peres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Iracema's Ricardinho Fernandes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulo José Ceresso in the 68th minute of play. Ricardinho Fernandes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredinho Valladares in the 74th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lino Tavares in the 79th minute of play forced Corinthians do Interior's goalkeeper Zé Roberto Siqueira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rogério de Lima sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Lino Tavares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lino Tavares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Roberto Siqueira having to interfere. Zé Roberto Siqueira made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Rogério de Lima sent off a good shot on target. Enrique Lara hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Lino Tavares scored 2-4 in the 94th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Zé Roberto Siqueira, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The Corinthians do Interior fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Iracema were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
