Lino Tavares's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mário do Vale read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 3rd minute of play. Arí Mineiro's late challenge caught a Iracema's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Arí Mineiro helped the player get up and apologised. Arí Mineiro hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. 5 minutes into the match, Iracema's Lino Tavares broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 13 minutes into the game, Kaká Madureira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. A.D.Maragatos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Iracema the free kick. Rogério de Lima sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Raimundo Guerra managed to get in a good position for a shot. Iracema's supporters rose to their feet, but Raimundo Guerra was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mário do Vale breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kaká Madureira was shown his second yellow card after 29 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Kaká Madureira kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. After 32 minutes, Carlos Alberto Favoretto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Iracema and the A.D.Maragatos players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 32 played minutes Iracema got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Alberto Favoretto. Ricardinho Fernandes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cauã Vidal, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. 44 minutes into the match, Iracema's Lino Tavares sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mário do Vale narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Cauã Vidal made the kick off in the second half. If Lino Tavares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lino Tavares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Aníbal Berger charged in rather forcefully in the 82nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Aníbal Berger the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Cauan da Silva was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 83rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. When A.D.Maragatos's Cauã Vidal in the 85th minute got a chance for a shot 85th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Iracema's goalie prevented a goal. The referee showed Lino Tavares the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A.D.Maragatos succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Iracema had controlled the match.
