Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Carlinhos Madureira started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Rony Rocha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Rio Bonito do Iguaçu's zone, Geovânio Cruz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Geraldo Pitta came out of the goal and Geovânio Cruz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Rio Bonito do Iguaçu's Hernani Jacinto got a free kick in the 6th minute. Castanhao's Jacinto Barreto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save Castanhao from getting a goal against them. In the 10th minute, Wellington Maia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Geraldo Pitta came out of the goal in the 14th minute to try and stop a shot by Castanhao's Rony Rocha. But to his dismay, Rony Rocha quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 17 minutes into the match, Bernardinho Hoffmann notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Castanhao's Jacinto Barreto. Jacinto Barreto was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 22nd minute Carlinhos Madureira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacinto Barreto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 26th minute, João Carlos de Godoi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Geovânio Cruz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Robbie Ward blasted a shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Geraldo Pitta having to make a save. Jacinto Barreto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hernani Jacinto, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. In the 39th minute, Carlinhos Madureira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rio Bonito do Iguaçu's Geraldo Pitta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rony Rocha in the 43rd minute of play. 45 minutes into the match, Bernardinho Hoffmann had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jacinto Barreto. Castanhao's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bernardinho Hoffmann was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Geovânio Cruz to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlinhos Madureira in the 58th minute of play forced Castanhao's goalkeeper Jacinto Barreto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Castanhao's Natã Félix got a free kick in the 58th minute.
