Geraldo Pitta came out of the goal and Sydney de Lara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 8th match minute, Rio Bonito do Iguaçu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Willian Dante to maneuver through the defense. Anísio Araújo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Geraldo Pitta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Abade booed when Rio Bonito do Iguaçu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernardinho Hoffmann didn't get a good kick on the ball. Victor Sergipano kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. Carlinhos Madureira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cícero Berger having to interfere. If Bernardinho Hoffmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlinhos Madureira succeeded in the game's 37th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. Rio Bonito do Iguaçu's Geraldo Pitta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anísio Araújo in the 44th minute of play. Anísio Araújo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Geraldo Pitta having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Carlinhos Madureira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Bernardinho Hoffmann got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Geraldo Pitta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anísio Araújo in the 54th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hortêncio Loureiro during the 61st minute. Sydney de Lara recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Duda Prata shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. The Rio Bonito do Iguaçu supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Abade's performance. The match ended with a win for Abade.
