Emílio Mendes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 21 minutes, Arthur Aparecido mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Águia de Marabá STAND BY and the Coritiba FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Arthur Aparecido hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Águia de Marabá STAND BY's Tiaguinho Breckenfeld got a free kick in the 27th minute. If Adelino Sanches had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Virgílio Alves managed to get in a good position for a shot. Coritiba FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Virgílio Alves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Emílio Mendes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sandro Coelho didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Aílton Baiano went, in the 35th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. If Virgílio Alves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 42nd minute of the match Marcelinho Coelho shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Emílio Mendes showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Emílio Mendes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Virgílio Alves's shot from short distance in the 44th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Adelino Sanches to make the kick off. Coritiba FC's Virgílio Alves got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 61st minute, Adelino Sanches fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Aílton Baiano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Virgílio Alves in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Emílio Mendes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Emílio Mendes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adelino Sanches in the 82nd minute of the match. In the 85th minute Adelino Sanches shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emílio Mendes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Adelino Sanches recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 89 played minutes Águia de Marabá STAND BY got a freekick which was hit by Arthur Aparecido. The audience was convinced that Adelino Sanches's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Emílio Mendes was relentless in the 94th minute of the game. If Adelino Sanches had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match was over Coritiba FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Águia de Marabá STAND BY throughout the match.
