Empate Esporte Clube's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FIM the free kick. In the 28th minute Frédson Domingues shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ubaldo Montae saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 29 minutes into the match, FIM's goal looked a bit too open when Tomasz Bakes came free, but Ubaldo Montae reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tomasz Bakes during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Tomasz Bakes hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Ubaldo Montae made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frédson Domingues in the 61st minute of play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 66 minutes into the game, when Mário da Rocha put in a rough tackle. 65 minutes into the game, one of FIM:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the match had been going on for 67 minutes, Empate Esporte Clube's Tomasz Bakes got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Ubaldo Montae. Ubaldo Montae made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Horacio Jesus Espinace in the 70th minute of play. Julio Salinas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Osvaldo Abraão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. FIM's Ubaldo Montae proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save FIM from getting a goal against them. In the 83rd minute, Empate Esporte Clube's Frédson Domingues ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ubaldo Montae. Ubaldo Montae yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-6. Frédson Domingues received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Ubaldo Montae came out and tried to block the shot, but Frédson Domingues slotted it home off the left post making it 2-7 in the 86th minute. After 92 played minutes FIM got a freekick which was hit by Julio Salinas. In the 96th play minute Tomasz Bakes came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Ubaldo Montae. 2-8. After 99 played minutes Horacio Jesus Espinace rounded FIM's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-9. Empate Esporte Clube played a much better game than FIM and deserved their victory. The FIM players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
