In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind Tauatu's goalkeeper Pedro Paulo Pontes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Dráuzio Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ubaldo Montae showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elói Cardozo, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Ubaldo Montae showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elói Cardozo in the 39th minute of the match. The supporters of FIM booed when Tauatu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elói Cardozo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Julio Salinas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Geovânio de Souza stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ubaldo Montae made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Dráuzio Neves sent off a good shot on target. Through an outstanding action, after 89 minutes, Ubaldo Montae successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After some careless play in the Tauatu defense, Roberto Zonta kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pedro Paulo Pontes. The Tauatu fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pedro Paulo Pontes should have stopped the shot. 93 minutes into the match, FIM's goalkeeper Ubaldo Montae had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dráuzio Neves. There was no doubt that FIM were the better team. FIM's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
