Marfim's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eusébio Miranda was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 30 minutes into the match, Ibuguacu's goalkeeper Zé Augusto Duarte had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eusébio Miranda. The crowd rose to their feet as João Vítor de Salles kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Zé Augusto Duarte. That made the score 3-0 in the 37 minute of play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 40 minutes into the game, when Ciro Galvão put in a rough tackle. Umberto Macedo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.
