Rezende FC's Reynaldo das Neves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Vítor de Salles in the 4th minute of play. Through an outstanding action, after 4 minutes, Reynaldo das Neves successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. If Ediberto Linares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Afonsinho Tasso might have been able to make a better finish in the 7th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luciano de Moraes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Afonsinho Tasso ran back to his position shaking his head. Reynaldo Rodrigues hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bernardinho Cardoso in the 9th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luciano de Moraes saved Marfim from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bernardinho Cardoso in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luciano de Moraes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 11 minutes, Aílton Melo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Marfim and the Rezende FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Aílton Melo hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Luciano de Moraes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernardinho Cardoso in the 19th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Iuri dos Santos during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Rezende FC booed when Marfim was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iuri dos Santos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marfim's Luciano de Moraes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernardinho Cardoso in the 24th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 28 minutes, Bernardinho Cardoso put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Luciano de Moraes. Sebastião Sergipano hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Eduardo Prado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Luciano de Moraes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Marfim getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Eusébio Miranda hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Marfim's zone, Bernardinho Cardoso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luciano de Moraes came out of the goal and Bernardinho Cardoso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Bernardinho Cardoso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luciano de Moraes was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. After the first half Rezende FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. João Vítor de Salles was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute Bernardinho Cardoso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luciano de Moraes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 58th match minute, Marfim was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Egídio Brito to maneuver through the defense. Bernardinho Cardoso's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 64thth minute, Luciano de Moraes skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If João Vítor de Salles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 69 minutes, Bernardinho Cardoso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rezende FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bernardinho Cardoso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some careless play in the Rezende FC defense, João Vítor de Salles kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Reynaldo das Neves. The Rezende FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Reynaldo das Neves should have stopped the shot. Afonsinho Tasso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luciano de Moraes having to interfere. Bernardinho Cardoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luciano de Moraes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernardinho Cardoso, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. If Ediberto Linares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rezende FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
