COLORADO DA OLARIA's supporters rose to their feet, but Romeu de Salles was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zé Augusto Duarte breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by César Saldanha in the 38th minute of play forced Ibuguacu's goalkeeper Zé Augusto Duarte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ibuguacu's Zé Augusto Duarte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Carlos Alagoano in the 39th minute of play. Zé Augusto Duarte stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Romeu de Salles's shot from short distance in the 42nd minute. In the 47th minute Romeu de Salles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Augusto Duarte saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sydney de Senna made a kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Romeu de Salles in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Zé Augusto Duarte saved Ibuguacu from getting behind. The crowd rose to their feet as Sílvio Toscano kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Zé Augusto Duarte. That made the score 1-1 in the 60 minute of play. César Saldanha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. César Saldanha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Zé Augusto Duarte tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ibuguacu's Zé Augusto Duarte proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save Ibuguacu from getting a goal against them.
