When Mário Araújo came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Guub United fans jumped to their feet. Juninho Velasco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wágner Zonta in the 16th minute of play. Guub United's Mário Araújo got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Fernando Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fernando Carvalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Levente Majer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 32nd minute, Sérgio Velloso left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Guub United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Dedé da Mata hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Levente Majer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Júlio de Almeida in the 39th minute of play. With his leg Juninho Velasco managed to avoid a goal in the 43rdth minute, when Guub United's Mário Araújo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Mário Araújo struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Juninho Velasco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Guub United. If Wágner Zonta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mário Araújo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 53rd play minutes Mário Araújo shot 5-0, a short shot which went by Juninho Velasco and just under the crossbar into goal. Mário Araújo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Juninho Velasco having to make a save. The throw-in from Manfredo Arce in the 65th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Guub United's Sérgio Velloso. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Mário Araújo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guub United's supporters rose to their feet, but Mário Araújo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Juninho Velasco breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Guaicurus SC getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Júlio de Almeida hit a great ball. After 75 minutes, Júlio de Almeida mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Guaicurus SC and the Guub United players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 75 played minutes Guaicurus SC got a freekick which was hit by Júlio de Almeida. If Mário Araújo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A hard shot 79 in the game by Fernando Carvalho from a close distance when the talented Levente Majer managed to make a qualified save. Guub United's players were relieved. Mazinho Peres, 81 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The supporters of Guub United booed when Guaicurus SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valdemar Pimenta didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dedé da Mata took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 83rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Juninho Velasco. Guaicurus SC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Flavinho Peixoto lost his temper 90 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 91 played minutes Guaicurus SC got a freekick which was hit by Flavinho Peixoto. If Mário Araújo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Levente Majer was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Fernando Carvalho showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 5-1 in the 96 minute of play. Guub United walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
