Nordestão Futebol Clube's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Glauco Maciel ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Glauco Maciel got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Gil Carioca quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 10th minute, Glauco Maciel ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gil Carioca was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Gil Carioca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Glauco Maciel, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind Nordestão Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Gil Carioca, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Glauco Maciel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aluísio Netto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Glauco Maciel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Glauco Maciel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gil Carioca having to interfere. A collision led to Cariri Futebol Clube getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Moisés Britto hit a great ball. After the first half Cariri Futebol Clube were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Vicente Lara to strike the kick off in the second half. Gil Carioca was out of position in the 58 minute of play, and Vicente Lara capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Vicente Lara really showed his touch with that goal: 0-4. Glauco Maciel hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. 70 minutes into the game, Cariri Futebol Clube's Glauco Maciel nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gil Carioca made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-5. Gil Carioca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vicente Lara, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. After some careless play in the Nordestão Futebol Clube defense, Glauco Maciel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gil Carioca. The Nordestão Futebol Clube fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gil Carioca should have stopped the shot. Nordestão Futebol Clube's Gil Carioca proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save Nordestão Futebol Clube from getting a goal against them. In the 84th minute, Cariri Futebol Clube's Vicente Lara ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gil Carioca. Gil Carioca yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-7. Glauco Maciel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the final whistle sounded Cariri Futebol Clube left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Nordestão Futebol Clube.
